Bigger and luxurious homes are the preferred choice for women in India, says a new survey by real estate portal Housing.com. Nearly 46% of women users have indicated that they prefer 3BHKs over other apartment sizes. In terms of facilities, nearly 31% women felt that safety and security is the most important factor.
The spacious and airy apartments from the Hiranandani Group score high on luxury and safety, making it a popular choice with Indian women. Built with plenty of green building concepts and unique architectural designs like the double-wall construction to keep the home cool and protected from the direct impact of the weather outside and high ceilings for cross ventilation, the homes offer a healthy atmosphere to the residents. Round-the-clock security, CCTV cameras in public spaces, and more safety features make it a safe environment for all the members of the family.
The study reveals that the number of women in India actively searching for a new home online is on par with men. Nearly 34% of women in the age group of 25-34 years are searching for a home, as against 32% men in the same age bracket. And around 20% of men and women in the age range of 34-44 years are equally active on the website. Mumbai has the highest number of women looking for real estate purchases, followed by Bengaluru and Delhi.
On a steady rise
A comparative study on the number of women users based on an earlier survey shows that women are increasingly getting active in searching for a home. While women between the age group 25-34 years are the most active, there has been a considerable rise of women users in the 18-24 and 35-54 age groups. In fact, the 35-54 age groups saw a jump, from 12% in 2018 to 32.5% in January 2021. Experts feel that women in their late 30s are clear about their financial obligations and future, which helps them to invest in a home.
The preferred choice
One of the other important findings of the survey is that women like men prefer to invest in a home than the stock market, fixed deposits, or gold. Real estate was the preferred choice for more than 50% of the respondents. The importance and security of owning a home in the post-COVID-19 situation are one of the prime reasons for this decision.
Careful and persistent users
Women tend to show due diligence when it comes to property purchases. Women users visited 13% more pages than men and spent 8.3% more time than men while searching for a home. At 33%, the number of women returning to the website for a property search was also much higher than men. 85% of women users are more likely to use their mobile phones for their home search than 83% of men.
Women prefer to buy a home now
According to the study, 64% of women users said that they would be keen on a property purchase in the post-COVID-19 scenario, while only 54% of men prefer to buy a home in the period.
